A Day Certificate in Sports Leadership was held at Whickham School & Sports College on Friday 29th February 2008. Led by Ali McConway from Whickham School, the event attracted 26 delegates, predominantly teaching assistants and lunchtime supervisors from 11 different schools.

The day was the first of its type to be held within Gateshead. The course intended to equip individuals who may be required to cover PE lessons/clubs within their school with new strategies and techniques in order to deliver more effective sessions.

Many thanks to all who attended, it is hoped that the new techniques learned can be put to good use within their respective school environment.

As a result of the increasing demand of places on the course, a second delivery of the day is scheduled to take place in the Summer Term. For more details please contact Kevin Hay on 0191 4960026 ext 267.

teaching

High quality teaching needs:-
Clear learning objectives
Achievable success criteria to lead to the Learning Objectives
differentiated activities.
to be active and enjoyable
some opportunities for evaluation.

Teaching

Teaching - needs to be more animated.
Clear objectives and targets need to be set at the start of the lesson and referred to throughout.
No evidence of warm up.
too many skills taught in 1 lesson and none of them given enough time. - need to pick a focus and re enforce that skill.
