Chopwell Primary School attended a fantastic festival at Hookergate High on 19th May. 28 Year 3 pupils loved the fast-paced carousel of activities, especially the beachball target game. In fact, the adults looked like they were itching to join in with that particular event.

what we have been up to
We have had a very b usy term. We have had our sports for all afternoon on the school field, we have taken parts in tournaments, festivals etc and we have had strawberry teas!
Break Dancing Club
This term Chopwell Primary School has offered it's pupils an after school club with a twist! The pupils are offered a wide range of sporting, musical and artistic opportunities before and after school - but this is a bit different! A qualified Break Dancing coach comes into school to deliver sessions to pupils aged 7-11. The pulse of the music coming from the hall has disrupted the odd staff meeting but the children have loved it! The club has increased in numbers as they prepare for a break-dancing extravaganza in assembly next week.
Chopwell Primary at Whickham Kwik Cricket Festival
21 teams competed at Whickham's Cricket Club ground. A busy day was had by all - playing approximately 5 matches each. Chopwell Primary School pupils competed well against schools from Whickham and Greenside, winning 4 matches and losing one against the eventual winners. Thanks to the organisers for a great competition

Dance Festival
Pupils from Chopwell Primary School danced to Queen's 'Don't Stop Me Now' dressed as cheerleaders. The children really enjoyed performing for pupils and parents in school too.

High 5 netball at Hookergate

On 12.10.06 the Hookergate Cluster Primary schools met at Hookergate School to take part in the High 5 netball tournament. Parkhead entered 1 team and Chopwell entered 2 teams. High Spen entered a magnificient 5 teams, albeit the entire of one class!
Everyone tried really hard to win, but in the end the first place went to the team from Parkhead!
Well done to everyone and thank you for coming.
